| Jean  Karam is an internationally recognized and trained Decorative Artist,  specializing in Venetian  plaster; custom wood finishes; glazing; murals and trompe I'oeil; faux bois and  strie finishes. Combining masterful techniques with a commitment to excellence  and perfection, Jean  Karam has enhanced interiors of both homes and businesses in Southern  California, Hawaii,  Singapore, Indonesia, France, and the Middle East.
 Born  in Beirut, Lebanon, Jean Karam began showing a true and inner talent for art at  a very young age.  Inspired and guided by his artistic father, Karam began entering art shows  while still in primary  and middle school. He studied fine arts upon graduating high school. During the  war, Karam went to  Paris, France, where he continued his studies at Institut de Crear and earned a diploma in Decorative and  Theater Arts. It was here that he honed his skills, applying his fine arts background to the  decorative arts.
 
 In  1990, Jean Karam moved to the San Diego area and within a short time made a  name for himself as  both a fine artist and custom finisher. He opened a faux finishing school at  the San Diego Design Center, where he also had his own art studio, and began  selling art both locally and  internationally. After a half-year sabbatical in France, Karam returned to San  Diego in 1994, and  continued to build his fine art and decorative art business.
 
 More  than a painter or finisher, Jean Karam also uses his design skills to enhance  the entire concept of a  home. He collaborates with builders and designers to create a cohesive design concept throughout. Clients rely on  him for advice in maintaining integrity of design throughout their homes. Many  of his clients have become trusted friends, and have entrusted multiple homes and/or remodels to  Karam. In addition, Jean Karam often works with real estate professionals specializing in large estates,  consulting on methods to update and enhance properties  in a manner that makes these properties attractive to potential buyers.
